Optimum Plumbing Gas and Heating are able to provide ALL essential plumbing, gasfitting and drain unblocking services during the lockdown period – we are emergency plumbers and emergency gasfitters.

What is an Essential Plumbing Service?

During the lockdown period, the Government has set in place strict laws surrounding the definition of essential services. Optimum Plumbing Gas and Heating is able to offer the essential plumbing services but must adhere to these laws.

An essential plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying service is essential only if it is immediately needed to maintain human health and safety at home/work. The services must:

  1. Be needed to maintain human health and safety at home/work; and
  2. That need must be Immediate.

Examples of essential plumbing services include work relating to:

  • Failed hot water cylinders, because hot water is required for sanitation purposes.
  • Unblocking and repair/replacement of sanitary waste pipes where there is an immediate threat to human health and safety.
  • Repair/replacement of water pipes where there is an immediate threat to human health and safety.
  • Repair/replacement of gas piping, fittings and appliance where there is an immediate threat to human health and safety.

Examples of work that is NOT considered essential plumbing includes:

  • The repair of minor leaks, tap washers etc.
  • Routine servicing or plumbing renovations.
  • The replacement of plumbing/sanitary fixtures that are currently working.

We have a team of Plumbers and Gasfitters ready to answer your essential plumbing needs during the lockdown. For the safety of you, your family and our team, Optimum Plumbing Gas and Heating have put the following precautionary measures in place:

  • Our team members are fully briefed in all the protocol and PPE requirements to ensure safety during this time. This includes, no physical contact, regular hand washing, and regular cleaning of tools and PPE.
  • All employees have been provided with complete body protective equipment (PPE) including overalls, respirator masks, eye protection and disposable gloves if required onsite.
  • No team member will be sent to your job if they show any sign of illness.

Please do not be offended when asked questions relating to the health and wellbeing of all persons self-isolating at the job location. These are asked to keep you and our team safe.
